Creating language tests and assessments is an essential part of every teachers job. In this course, we will work to improve our test making skills by first learning basic concepts of assessment theory. We will then focus on test design by examining multiple choice and short answer style test questions for reading and listening and rubric design for speaking and writing. Finally, we will look at dictation and cloze tests, two test styles said to integrate productive and receptive skills. Besides reading and lectures, participants will complete item writing assignments that they will share with other participants.
